Brief Introduction of Research Center
Research Center for Public Health of Tsinghua University (TPHRC) was established on July 26, 2010. It is a universitylevel research center for interdisciplinary studies, including medical science, life science, public administration, economic management, laws, communicationstudies, socialsciences and environmental science.
With its multidisciplinary approach, TPHRC seeks to produce constructive academic research and social policy proposals that will contribute to solving serious public health problems brought about by tremendous social and economic transformation in China. In September 2010, TPHRC was authorized by the State Council’s Degree Committee to accredit Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. Beginning in September 2011, TPHRC will gradually recruit industry professionals to attend Public Health Training Courses and enroll in a specialized MPH graduate degree program. In terms of its curriculum design, TPHRC is distinct from traditional public health education, emphasizing the combination of health sciences, management sciences, and social medicine, and drawing on MBA and MPA case studies adopted by Harvard University. The graduates will be expected to exhibit strong leadership, good management with emergent incidents.
